“WITHOUT HERBICIDES, THE JUICES ARE GOLDEN”

"My great-uncle, André Brisson, was a peasant archaeologist. The marshes, the forest, it was a place very inhabited by the first men. There were flints which were good exchange currencies. They dug, took the flints, put the dead ones in and filled them in. He gave everything to the Epernay museum. My father and my grandfather were cooperators. They sold coop bottles. The younger customers are connoisseurs. They wanted wines with more personality.
I left the coop in 2013. But I didn't know my plots. I carried what was ready to be vinified, that's all. The coop is a very nice atmosphere but we are not trained in terms of the palate. I had always campaigned for a more personal commitment. We have remained very good friends. I have 3.35 hectares. As it is a small farm, I take care of the vines alone.
Without herbicides, I found that I had less rot, we got nicely browned juices. In 2016, I went to the organic assembly. I tasted some very good things and I converted to organic."
